Switchfoot Concert

Yesterday afternoon, I met up with Shein, her BF (bestfriend/boyfriend) Bonok and kuya Red at the Taft MRT station to watch the Switchfoot benefit concert in Cuneta astrodome. When we got at the venue the gates were still closed but there were already long lines of excited audience. We made our way to the end of the line, while we're there we were chatting and joking around. We were almost 30 minutes on that line when Shein heard some guy asked if it was the Php600 line, after hearing what the guy just asked she relayed what she heard to us and we were all bursting in laughter! We were at the wrong line! Hahahaha When we asked around we've gathered that the mosh pit (Php1400) entrance is on the other side of the astrodome. When we got there the line was über long. While the line was very slowly moving, we were not so bothered at all we just chat and laugh the long line away! And there was also a bonus because we had our chance for a photo op with Champ of Hale and we also saw Rica Peralejo, Anne Curtis and some print models and model-look-a-likes.

When we finally got inside, we waited again for about an hour! The concert was supposed to start at 7:30 but it actually started after an hour. My feet and legs were already hurting even before the show started, and most of us there were already annoyed with the hundred times repetition of their ads/presentation. When the lights were finally turned off the crowd was screaming and almost went mad! And alas the concert started! The front act was Salamin band, with Paolo Valenciano as the vocalist. I didn't really jam with the band, aside from the fact that I don't know their songs (shhhh) and I just want to reserve the littlest energy I had for the Switchfoot performance. After Salamin's act, of course it was Switchfoot's turn! And at that time the crowd didn't almost go mad, they were or should I say we were really mad!!! Oh, Switchfoot is just so good. I really love them. I can't remember exactly what I did but I know there were lots of singing, screaming, jumping and dancing involved. So there, can you see the picture? If not I'll just post it! Hahahaha

After the concert, we bee lined to the "freebies area", for every 2 mosh pit tickets you can have an autographed poster of Switchfoot and a shirt from IJM (International Justice Mission). Kuya Red and Bonok got the posters and Shein and I got the shirts (the shirts were ladies' size). After the concert we capped of the night with very sumptuous dinner at Gerry's grill in Blue Wave (Kuya Red's birthday treat). I got home past midnight.

Anyway, tonight I'm going to Araneta for the Be Bench night, kuya Red have a ticket for two and he asked me to come with him... Something to blog again!

I'm Back!

As i promised, here's the continuation of what i wrote the other day.....

The competition went well last Sunday at Le Pavillion. We had a 'healthy' competition. Though we didn't bag the title, we're still happy of the results. As they say its not a matter of winning, but its how you played the game. And were contented of the results because we know that we gave our best and we are all winners in our own rights!

There were supossedly 5 guest bands who will be performing that night but only 4 performed and they were 6 cyclemind, Mojofly, Parokya ni Edgar and Rivermaya. Bamboo wasn't able to perform because they found out that the rival of the product that they are endorsing was the main sponsor so they weren't able to play that night.

The winners of that night were VXI, who got the 3rd prize, Convergys 2nd and finally, Client Logic who bagged the title 'CCAP's Best Band of the Year' and who won the hundred and fiftythousand pesos and the plantronics bluetooth headset worth Php17,000.00 each! Wow! That's a lot for the four band members!!!

After the competition, i already left the venue. I went with my brother and cousins to bay walk. We had dinner there while listening to the live band playing at yakitori dori. We also went to Malate. We went home at around 2AM. And i wasn't able to go to work yesterday because i wasn't feeling well and i felt so tired. It was already 2 o'clock in the afternoon when i woke up.I feel so lonely last night, its not because we weren't able to bring home the bacon, but its because I'm not going to be with my band mates anymore, we wouldn't be able to hang out together like we did before. I'm missing them so much. I know that I'll see them around the workplace but its really different when we were still rehearsing before. I know life would never be the same again. Sigh. But i need to understand that the only constant thing in this world is 'change'.I hope to hang out with them again one of these days.... I'll keep my fingers crossed. Now, I'm back to the real world, my normal life! Work-Home, Home-Work... Shop sometimes... That's it, i think. I'm back to my daily routine... Good thing there's Kristinions where i can express my thoughts... Where i can just simply be me...

Screen Pop's Final Judgment....

Finally, the long wait is over! Tonight will be the Finals Night of the Call Center Association of the Philippines' Jammin' '06 Battle of the Bands. As you remember we're one of the fortunate bands who graced our way from the eliminations to finals. Hope that we'll make it today... Hope that we'll bring home the bacon. I'lll write more about the competition after the finals, coz as of now i'm battling with my tension.... (though i'm not a coffee addict... i really feel nervous)

Anyway, Screenpop is the name of our band, of Touch Asia's band and the band memebers are:

Vocals: 1. jonette 2. jeth 3. orly
Drummer: Nix, Bassist: G-Boy, Guitarists: beegdawg & joven, keyboardist: tin

After the competition, i know i'm going to miss these guys... they are very nice and they never fake it. I'm going to miss our dinner together and our jammin's every rehearsal break. Sigh. I know i'll still be seeing them around, but the thought that we won't be able to hang out like we used to makes me feel sad. Duh! So much for this 'mushy' stuff, i still need to prepare myself for the competition this afternoon. I promise to write more about this tomorrow. :0 ciao!

We brought home a 'chunk' of the bacon!

Yesterday was the elimination of the the CCAP (Contact Center Association of the Phils.) Jammin '06 Battle of the bands, and was held in Glorietta activity center. And... tadaa... we made it to the grand finals, we ranked 5th out of 14! Considering that they'll only get 8 out of 14 band competitors. Not bad. And the finals night will be held at the NBC tent, The Fort!
The executive board director of CCAP, Jay Uligan, told us yesterday that the grand finals night will be flooding with booze, unlike yesterday that only iced tea flooded the floor. And he also promised that there will be professional bands, the like of bamboo, rivermaya, parokya, hale, cueshe and others... Wow! Can't wait till the finals night.

Before the performance--
I think i peed thrice before our performance, i was really tensed. I was afraid that i'll be the cause of failure of the band coz i had this peculiar feeling yesterday that i'll be the jinx of the group. Good thing it didn't happen.

During the performance--
I just set my mind that it was just our final rehearsal so so i won't be that tensed. I just danced to the beat of the music that we were playing, and that really is effective... it swept my tension away! And i was so overwhelmed seeing the audience screaming and dancing with our music. Its already an exhiliration of victory!

After the performance--
We were all satisfied with our performance as well as our officemates. But there's still the tension... though our big boss' told us that it would be ok if we don't get in but still we want to be in the grand finals, who doesn't, right?

The verdict--
When we heard Jay Uligan announcing the top 8 then we heard him shout 'Screenpop" Touch Asia as top 5, we were screaming! Though we were already anticipating that we will get in, it still surprised us. we were like little children screaming while jumping up and down! Then we went to the stage... we can't contain our happiness. We were gamely posing for the cameras! Actualy, i wasn't able to figure where the flickers came from coz it was like in every angle there's a camera! All i did was just smile.. smile... grin... and smile! Feeling celebrity! hahahahaha

I'm happy that we got in because our hard work paid off, but i'm also sad coz that means more upcoming rehearsals and also we need to change our repertoire. So, we really need to work our ass off learning new songs, rehearsing and of course at the same time we need to catch up with our work in the office! Whew! Why can't we be happy without being sad afterwards? Is it what they call balance? Oh my God! But hey, i didn't regret that we got in... i'm very happy in fact. Its quite an honor representing our company in a competition like that. And you just don't know the 'package' that comes with it. All bands will be featured in a lifestyle publication! Do you think that's great enough? That's not yet all... wait till MTV airs the video of the competition. And we also have this HUGE companies as our sponsors, we have Globe, Plantronics, Nestle, TGI Fridays, Enerva, Maalox and a lot more... i just forgot the names of the not so 'HUGE' ones! Apologies....

And the grand prize? Its only a hundred and fifty thousand! See? Can you imagine how big the competition is? The competion is sooooooo overwhelming! Its really, really great!

Hope that we can make it to the top 3 during the grand finals night, but if not... it would be fine. Being one of the finalist is already a great honor! But one thing's for sure... we'll give this our best shot! If that means more sleepless nights of rehearsing that would be fine as long as its for our own good, why not! So see you at the NBC Tent, February 5, 2006 is the date! Rock on Touch Asia!!!! Next time we'll not only bring home the chunk... but the whole pack of bacon! hahahahaha

(We didn't get to have our celebration last night coz my bandmates had individual 'engagements'. So after the competition, i went home straight coz i need to be early the following day, my shift starts at 8:00AM. And also, i would like to thank my brother who went to watch... my valued friends: Nhez, Rey, Joey and Tin. Though Kate and Nathan didn't make it there i'm still thankful for their moral support! Love you so much gels! And to all the Touch Asia peole who went there. And also to my bandmates... who were very patient and supportive. Thank you guys! We'll continue rocking on!:))
