Happy Birthday to Me!

It's the 18th, I'm celebrating my 18th (oh i missed being a teenager..sigh), i mean 21st year here on earth. A year older(yeah right), wiser (of course i am!) and more mature (???). Hope so. I'm not in the mood to write anything now coz I can't think straight.. my thought always drifts to my coming trip tomorrow. Anyway, I'll try hard to write some thing here.. maybe i should just reminisce my past birthdays. Whew! I hope I'll be able to post something good. (I'll keep my fingers crossed...)
  • 1st Birthday - Does anyone have any memory of their first birthday? I can't recall what happened on that day of my life. I only saw the pictures but i didn't really understand what happened. :)
  • 2nd, 3rd, 4th Birthdays - Still can't recall...
  • 5th Birthday - I know a party existed that time and there were lots of food and balloons and all my playmates and pre-school classmates were there.
  • 6th Birthday - Yehey! Of course i can vividly picture what happened that day! I spent my birthday in Star City! That birthday was kinda special to me because my parents gift was the trip to Manila and it was my very first trip in this place.
  • 7th Birthday - i had an 'ala debut' party, i wore a gown and my little girl friends and classmates were also wearing gowns and the little guys were wearing tux' , and polos. And i also got a BMX for my birthday from daddy (my grandfather).
  • 8th Birthday - Another trip to Manila.
  • 9th Birthday - Indian inspired children's party, there were teepees and i gave out indian head dresses to my friends.
  • 10th Birthday - A trip to Ozamiz City with my mommy (my grandmother) and my cousins.
  • 11th Birthday - a simple barbecue party with my friends
  • 12th Birthday - It was a double celebration coz i also graduated from elementary that year!
  • 13th Birthday - I think we just had a family dinner... i'm not really sure.
  • 14th Birthday - can't remember again...
  • 15th Birthday - a trip to Iloilo with my brother and cousins.
  • 16th Birthday - it was university enrollment. i celebrated my birthday before the 18th. It was also a double celebration graduation and birthday party in one! (We had punch that time!)
  • 17th Birthday - it was very plain... i enrolled in a summer class. just had lunch with my best buddies
  • 18th Birthday - I had a neither grand nor boring/simple party but it was really unforgettable! I had the traditional cotillion.
  • 19th Birthday - dinner with the family.
  • 20th Birthday - another double celebration, i graduated from college. We went swimming at the beach. and we had a drinking spree.... booze...
  • 21st Birthday - spent here in the office... work, work, work! But the day isn't over yet, in fact it just started so i still don't know what would happen, i still don't know what awaits me today. i love surprises! But the best give i had is the gift i gave myself, a trip back home tomorrow!!!!! Yippeee!

I didn't think that remembering what happened to my past birthdays was this hard... I should have kept a journal or just a list of things that happened on each birthday... No time for regrets... nice try though! Maybe I'll start making a birthday journal from now on so that I'll be able to write everything when i make this kind of list again on my 30th birthday... sure it would be a longer list... :)

Happy Birthday to Me!!!

Whew! I ain't whining nor complaining, coz its just 5 days to go before my most anticipated day. Well, anyway.. i came up with a plan for tonight. I'll try to work on my pending project tonight, i'm going to maximized my time so that i'll be able to finish my project before deadline so that i'll be sure that i'll have no more pending projects before i'll take my vacation leave.

9 Days (Nights?) and Still Counting...

I'm not making a countdown for my birthday but I'm making this countdown for my first long vacation since i started working. I'm really excited to be going home again after so many months. I missed everyone there... and I'm also dying to sleep again in my room back in the province, I missed everything there... from food, to friends, sites and memories. I am really anticipating for the day that I'll be able to smell and savor my mom and grandma's cooking, the hugs and cuddles from my grandpa and my cute little nieces, my titas' free shopping sprees, my kulitan with my girl cousins and endless conversation with my girl buddies in high school and college. And how can i forget the very special mother and daughter bonding that we usually had when i was still there. I really love spending time with my mom, i love spending a lazy afternoon with her in her bedroom or in the veranda of our house talking about anything and everything under the sun.

Anyway, before that most awaited trip is also my special day, my natal day. I'm going to celebrate it first in the province with my family and maybe i'll just have a post celebration with my officemates when i get back here.

Here are some stuff that i dreamt of for my day:
(some are impossible, or should i say... everything in this list is impossible!)
  1. A cellphone and washing machine in one. I'm dying to have this kind of gadget coz i really hate doing the laundry, and i don't want to be spending my monthly allowance for the laundromat forever, so if ever i have this gizmo i 'll be able to save and maybe I'll find doing the laundry fun, coz I'll also be able to do the thing that i love doing, texting of course!
  2. I want to have a private plane so that i would be able to fly to any place that i wanted to be at any time of the day.
  3. I'm not thinking about owning or having shares in the World Bank coz i know its impossible, Central Bank of the Phils. will do.
  4. Also, i want to own an island in Seychelles or the Maldives so i can bring my friends there to have some skinny dipping(of course we will get there with my private plane).
  5. I want to have my own version of 'food choices' in my house... I'll throw a house party daily.
  6. I want to put up Philippine Disneyland, so it won't be hard for those less fortunate to enjoy such kind of theme park and so i can easily treat those street children to this kind of place. I empathized their deprivation of so many things.
  7. I would also put up a school for them.
  8. a mall/clothing line named after me
  9. and lastly.... be prince William's special someone! hahahahhaha

These are so impossible, but if any of these will come true... it would be a GREAT/HUGE bonus!

Anyway, here's my realistic list:

  1. Eleven Minutes by Paulo Coelho.
  2. Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson.
  3. A birthday card (made by the giver/sender).
  4. Birthday greetings from my friends.
  5. A phone call/an SMS will do.
  6. Birthday kiss/beso.
  7. Any Kamiseta stuff, coz you know i'm a Kamiseta addict/fanatic.
  8. If Only DVD/CD i have the OST CD but i want the movie too!
  9. Ooops, i almost forgot... i want chocolates too!
  10. Finally... a great time with my friends on that day.

It doesn't matter if I don't get all of those what i really wanted to have on that day are those in numbers 4 to 6. that's more realistic and more intimate (for me).

Hope you got some ideas now on what to give me on my birthday.... I'll be waiting... :)

April Showers

My favorite months of the year are December, because of the obvious reason and April. April is one of my favorite months of the year not only because its my birth month but also lots of great things, experiences happened to me on this month. I can vividly recall the first time that i visited Manila, it was a week before my 6th birthday. My mom and dad brought us to this cosmopolitan to experienced urban living even just for a month. I can recall how happy and excited i was to see Manila. And how amazed i was to witness the style of living in a metro. And it was also that time that i got to visit my cousins living here.

During my childhood years, i always look forward to this month because its vacation time for students like me, which means i get to play more with my friends, watch TV more often, and spend vacation on different places. And when i was in a state university and away from home, i really adored summer coz its the time that i could get together with my family, get reunited with my high school buddies, and my cousins who happen to study in faraway places too. And i can remember how i anticipated for my 18th April in this world, i was anticipating coz it was my eighteenth birthday and I'm excited for some major changes in my life. I'm excited coz at that age i have the right to vote (yeah, that's first coz i really wanted that right for so long) and also that's the point where people will see or consider me as a grown up person and most of all that's the time when my curfew hour was extended (from 6 to 10, i was very contented with that curfew then, believe me), got my Student permit for driving, 'license to be in a relationship' (its ironic coz its been after a year after i got this 'license' that i did get to have a boyfriend! unlike when i still don't have the license, i got a boyfriend! its a paradox...) and i got my drinking license! Yippeee!(the yippee is not for the drinking license but for anything else.. :) oh, how can i forgot my 'fabulous' debut!(Note: adj. 'fabulous' is exaggerated) Honestly, my debut party was neither boring nor grand, just above average i think. :) But i still consider that as one of the happiest moment of my life.

My April firsts, achievements and experiences:
  • i first visited Manila summer of 1991,
  • i enrolled in a ballet class April of 1992,
  • i also got my BMX at the same time,
  • went to HK and Shenzen(April 1996)
  • i learned to drive a car (April 1999)
  • i first set foot in US (San Francisco and LA, April 2002)
  • i graduated from college (my graduation was April 7, 2005)

And finally, my very first long vacation since i started working will happen this month and I'm going to spend that in our province... 'am really excited to be going back home again. I missed the people and the place so much.... Yehey!

(Disclaimer: i ran out of time, i'm going to add my other April stories later today... ;))
