Nikita

I have a new addiction. No it's not drugs. It's a not so new TV series called Nikita. I've seen the plugs of this show a thousand times while I watch my other teen drama addiction (Gossip Girl), I've been meaning to watch this show since it started late last year. But I didn't get to until just a week ago.

What I love about this show is that it's not a typical CW series. Yes, I watched almost all shows at CW, it's either I'm addicted to the network or I just have too much time to kill. Anyway, it's a kick-ass series, literally. The lead characters get to kick asses on a daily basis. Plus, the main character is a gorgeous woman, Maggie Q. And yes, she's one of my girl crushes, I'm even jealous that Lyndsy Fonseca who plays Alex gets to work with her. Hahaha! I'm such a typical fan. Don't get me wrong I don't hate Lyndsy, in fact I like her. I'm just plain jealous. She gets to work not just with Maggie but also my biggest high school crush Shane West. Who could ever forget Landon Carter from A Walk To Remember? 

The plot of the series is easy to follow, I think. Nikita was an agent of Division, a secret organization of the US government, so secret that you think they don;t exist. Yet they are very powerful, that they think they're gods who are capable of taking a life in a push of a button. Literally. I don't want to give some spoilers, just watch the show and you'll know why.

I'm just a little sad that I already finished all the 16 episodes and now CW series have all gone on a hiatus till next month. And you know how I feel about waiting. Anyway, guess I have no choice but to be patient.

Greek Nostalgia

This afternoon I got an SMS from a friend that Pinoy Meets World will feature Santorini and some of Greece's famous/gorgeous places (Crete and Athens). I don’t usually watch the show but because they’re featuring my most favorite place on the planet, I can not afford to miss it for the world. I can’t get enough of Santorini! It is a place where you can’t say that you’ve seen enough after a few visits, because you will always discover something new each time you set foot on the place.

Miriam Quiambao told the viewers the brief history and culture of the people living on the island. And how some people think that somewhere in or near the caldera was the lost city of Atlantis. Which I also happen to eventually believed, as all of the Greeks I know strongly believed and convinced me about the idea. Though I’m not in the position to say what is true and what’s not because I’m no archaeologist but the “evidences” are strong (in mine and their opinions). And just thinking about being somewhere near Atlantis is a great feeling. And you’ll be like “Man, I am floating above the lost city! Beat that man!”. Hahaha!

Anyway, they showed the viewers the abodes of the Greeks in Santorini. The white houses that I so love, and the donkeys that they use as their means of transportation. Miriam also brought the viewers to the caldera.
The view from the caldera is very breathtaking as usual. And she also visited some place around the islands capital Fira. She along with her Greek friend went to buy some ingredients for Tomatokeftedes, the tomato meatball without the meat. Opa! Opa! The tomatoes from the island is one of a kind, its because of the volcanic soil where it’s planted. I was hoping that Miriam would also visit the dock where Lena and Costas often meet. (Just want to squeeze this in, as the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 will be hitting the theaters soon)

She also visited Crete, I always love to visit the place… One day I’ll set foot on that island. The island seems great and rich with history and culture just like any other places in Greece. And lastly, Miriam took us, the viewers to Greece’s capital, Athens. I love Athens too! It’s a city that combines history and modernization. I so envy Miriam for she was able to visit Parthenon and the whole Acropolis! I am so green-eyed now! I promise I’ll get to Parthenon before it turns to dust, as its ruins now are so ‘ruined’.

I haven't saved enough, so for now I'll just satisfy my Greek craving by watching the Sisterhood movie. I just hope the movie will hit Philippine theaters soon.

Superpowers, Super Cool!

While waiting for Heroes to buffer what's better thing to do? Of course spew some words on my blog! I was almost mad, and I almost want to send a letter to NBC on why Nikki/Jessica, DL and Micah aren't on the first 2 episodes of the show. I love their family, they are all special, not in the sense that they are some 'special people/child', but they all have powers man! Though I'm not really convinced that Nikki/Jessica's MPD (multiple personality disorder) is a gift but nonetheless DL and specially Micah got the coolest. Think talking to an ATM, and asking it to release cash even without the use of an ATM card nor a bank account. That's superb right? I can't even imagine on what I'm going to buy with all those bucks! Hahaha! Maybe that's one of the million reasons why I'm not given that kind of power, or any power on that matter.

Speaking of superpowers, what superpower do you want to have? I know it's like a kiddie question but I just wanna know, or maybe I'm asking you this for me to also have a reason to tell you what powers I wanna have. Whatever! Anyway, I want Micah's powers, but what will I do with all those cash if I can't even defend myself? So that made me want to have Claire's... she can regenerate everything in her body. She may not stay dead forever but the point is she still can't defend herself and she can't talk to ATMs and ask for money! Hahaha! So, I now decided that I would love to have Peter Petrelli's. That man has SUPERPOWERS, and I mean literally! He has the ability to adopt/share any power from any gifted person he came in contact with just by being beside them or even just think of them. Ain't that SUPER COOL? Of course it is! I know that made you also want to have Peter's powers, but hey I'm the first. Just kidding! You can still have Peter's powers...

I am starting to imagine the things that I can do with Peter's powers... hmnn.. fly, paint the future, regenerate, teleport, talk to computers, be invisible, be a tracking device, walk on walls, hear everything even a person's heartbeat, heal... I could go on with a very long list. And literally I could be one of the most powerful persons in the world. Of course, that would be me, Peter and Sylar (if he's still alive, bet he is).

A Day in the Life of a Fanatic

I had a blast this Wednesday! Guess who I've met personally? It's Pinky Webb man! She's super nice, prettier and more gorgeous in person. Uh, ok, let's get back, so I can tell you how I finally met her. Tuesday afternoon, I was really decided to go to UKG's set and watch Pinky Webb live! I talked, forced and bribed (I treated him to lunch at Tender Bob's) my brother to come with me, luckily after quite a long talk and a plateful of steak and yummy dessert he gave in. So the date was set, early morning (should I say dawn) of August 22. I barely slept that night, I was giddy and űber excited to see Pinky in person. I woke up pretty much earlier than my brother, after I took a bath I tried to wake him up but he just stirred. I did wake him up for several times but he didn't get up. So after I was done dressing up, I tried waking him up again but this time with greater force and some kadramahan, with this line in chavacano "durmi ya lang alli, iyo ya lang solo anda." (“Carry on with your sleeping, I’ll just go alone”) And voila with that line he woke up! I wasn't really sure if he did wake up because he was concerned about me going there alone or just too irritated or too annoyed to argue with me, but either way I don't really care as long as he gets up and come with me.

When we arrived at the ELJ building I offered to buy myself and my brother a cup of coffee from Starbucks, as my consolation for him, for waking up early and for putting up with my fanaticism, if you may call it that way. After buying our coffee, we searched the building as to where the UKG studio is, we both have no idea where would that be. So for us not to be late, I braved myself and was able to ask the guard on duty. Thank heavens and we were already at the audience entrance of the studio. But there's still a hitch, we don't know if we're allowed to get in. Luckily, there were a group of PATTS students who have arrived so we asked the guard to let us in, he was kinda hesitant at first but I think when he saw me puppy-faced he let us in saying "mukha naman kayong studyante, sige pasok nalang kayo". Upon hearing that I could have kissed the guard but I had no time to waste, the clock was ticking and the show was about to start, so we just went in with the crowd. And you think all the hitches were finally over... wait there's more! When we got in, we were told that we were no longer allowed to get in to the main studio because the show was about to start and the studio was already packed with PATTS students. I was nearly hopeless when a light bulb lighted on my head(not literally of course)! I dragged my brother with me and asked the staff there as to where the toilet is. He told me that I just head to the main studio and turn right. We did head to the main studio but of course we didn't turn right! What am I going to do inside the toilet? Can I watch the show up close from there? I don't even feel like peeing that time, neither my brother. So we sneaked in and joined the crowd of students inside. We were asked by another staff again, he asked if we were also students and of course we said "yes" and went straight to find good seats! Good thing we found some seats at the side and we were able to watch the entire show!

During a commercial break, my brother noticed Pinky Webb passed by our seats. She was there for about a minute, but all I managed to say was a "haaaaayyyy", I don't know if that was a "hi" or me sighing or I was simply starstruck. And I tell you, I wasn't able to move from where I was seated. When Pinky left, I felt I made the moment passed! After the show, I was surprised because my brother asked Pinky if he could take a picture of her with me of course. She gladly said yes, I was again giddy that time at the same time super tensed! It's like landing on the moon for the very first time! (I know super jologs na ako! Nawala lahat ng poise ko at composure when I went up to her. But that's the real me.) My brother started talking to her of how a fanatic I am, and all she was able to say was "addict?" I was really overjoyed with that comment, I dunno why. Then I wasn't able to control myself and started blabbing too about how I really like her. She smiled and said something that I didn't quite understand, it's not as if she didn't speak it in Tagalog but I was just too starstruck to comprehend what she was saying to me. I took a lot of pictures of her! (kahit yung mga kasama nya dun ay 'di ko kilala)

After that my brother and I went home with a smile plastered on our faces. He was happy because I won't be bothering him... for now. And of course I was happy because I finally met Pinky Webb.

(I know you think this blog is slowly morphing to a Pinky Webb blog.... but I tell you... it isn't! I would still be writing anything that I would feel like writing about. Pinky Webb related or not.)

Fanatic!

I know I just posted an entry yesterday but I just feel like posting again. Who cares?! :p

Anyway, after a month and a half of watching the morning show Umagang Kay Ganda I felt that I really need to blab about it. I find the show very entertaining, educational and informative. I like all the hosts, they have different personalities but that's what makes their show great. I just can't get enough of the Edu and Pinky and Kim and Bernadette tandems, bubbly Rica and Donita and of course Donita's bloopers (e.g. espapel) and many more... I can go on all night!

What I like about the show is how Pinky Webb surprises the viewers each day, she can deliver hardcore news but she can also be quirky and funny! I love the episodes where there was a showdown between the UKG girls and the 26K, the three UKG girls can have a career as banker's 26K, really! And when they have this "tournaments" the dance mania, wii.. etc. And just yesterday morning I was really enjoying the moment when Pinky and Edu danced the latter's 'signature' dance! (Picture Pinky Webb dancing!) They look so cute! Pinky Webb is just so versatile.

Yeah, I know it's now obvious that I really like her. In fact she's kinda my idol, I really liked the way she projects herself on TV and the way she delivers the news. For me she's an epitome of beauty and brains. I liked her even years before. When I was about to start in college I even considered taking up Broadcast Journalism but my dad didn't allow me thinking that it's some kind of a 'dangerous' job. So, heeding his advice I took up Business Economics but later on shifted to I.T.. But even I'm an IT graduate and works in an IT company I still think I can work with the media because it's one of my two passions: fashion and media. I just have known also that Pinky's course wasn't really broadcasting she just took broadcasting short courses, if I'm not mistaken she has a business management degree. And it's really my dream to work with the media, even behind the camera. I would pay anything just to land on a job like that. Just like I would pay anything for me to have a break in the fashion industry. (dreamy mode... haaaayyy)

Ok, I watch that show not only because Pinky Webb's there but I love the show as a whole. Call me a pathetic fanatic but you know what, I even changed my RDs from Friday and Saturday to Monday and Tuesday so that I'll be able to watch the show from start to end. And since I'm on a night shift I can still get to watch the later part of the show, if and when I take the cab from work. I get out from work at 7AM. Since the show premiered, I always take a cab from work so that I'll be able to get home at half past 7 and be able to watch the show for about an hour before it ends.

I talked to my brother about accompanying me to watch the show since he has a friend who works there, but he didn't say yes yet. I just wish he'll accompany me, I'd do anything for him just to watch that show live.

Disclaimer: I was never a fanatic of a local show, not until UKG aired. I admit I am a Heroes, The Hills, The OC and of course Charmed's biggest fanatic. Charmed's my very first! I even dream of being friends with Prue, Piper and Phoebe. I know I'm hopeless and I should get a life. That's how a pathetic fanatic I am. So just bear with it.

Boyfriends and Bestfriends

I just watched the latest episode of The Hills and I can't help myself not to make an entry about it. I can relate to it. Last week it was about team The Hills girls versus team Spencer. And now it's a match between Heidi and Spencer versus Lauren. I was ok with the idea of Heidi and Spencer getting back in each other's arms, though Spencer is not really the kind of guy I would like to go out with. He's some kind of a jerk. But if Heidi's happy with him then let her be, but I also want Heidi to understand Lauren, and listen to what she says about them being together and about Spencer being the cheater that he is. It's like their friendship is at stake with Heidi dating douchebag Spencer.

It's so sad when you know that your bestfriend's boyfriend is cheating on her and you tell her about it and she doesn't believe you. And sometimes she even take it against you. I've been in that kind of drama. And my friend thinks that I don't understand her and doesn't want to see her happy. And her boyfriend also constantly telling my bestfriend that I was just making up stories to ruin their relationship, and that I'm not being a true friend to my bestfriend. He even told her that I was just jealous of them because they were happy and thinks that I envy her because I just broke up with my cheating boyfriend that time. It is really disappointing to know that my bestfriend doesn't believe me and have chosen her cheating boyfriend over me when the whole world is telling her that her boyfriend is a jerk, nah its too harsh, ok a player. I was upset because I don't want to see her making the same mistakes that I did. I know what and how it feels like being cheated and being manipulated. And I really don't want our friendship to end because of a guy who's not even worth a cent. We've been there for each other for almost forever and in just a snap her boyfriend would take that away. We almost outgrown each other, but after some time my bestfriend woke up and realize that her boyfriend isn't worth our friendship. I was glad that she finally saw the light, but I was also sad because she have to learn it the hard way, even harder. When we fixed things up, she asked me "what was I thinking? I believed my boyfriend for three months over my bestfriend for forever!". I told her that was just a bump in our friendship, to test each other's trust. And now we're still bestfriends, though we don't see each other on a daily basis but we know in our hearts that we are friends and no one can tear us apart, even boyfriends!

The Hills and The Girl

What's with the entry title? I just played with the words, 'The Hills' and 'Kiss the Girl'. The Hills Season 2 is now airing on MTV I am so happy and excited about it since the last episode of season 1. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to watch it on MTV last January 15. Good thing, I found a site that hosts that video, I was able to download it this morning... Tadaa! I'll be watching it any minute from now! I am so thankful for those file sharing sites, I'll be able to watch episodes of any shows that I missed. I owe you a lot and I so love you! Heheheh

Have you watched The Little Mermaid, the first one, where Ariel was the little mermaid? Anyway, do you still remember the songs in that movie? I do! I can still sing it now, I memorized each song by heart even the lines of the characters! I'm such a mermaid fanatic when I was young, I even got hooked on Marina before! Hahahaha! Let's keep that as our little secret, okey? Anyway, we also had an activity during my senior year in high school where every year level should present a Disney play, and we presented the The Little Mermaid. But I wasn't Ariel nor any of her sisters, I played Vanessa. You know her? She's a villain! Actually, she's Ursula, she morphed into a beautiful lady with Ariel's voice (Ursula got Ariel's voice as payment for her feet) , who will steal the prince from Ariel. As they say the rest is history... Anyway, I'm writing this entry because I bumped into a video of 'Kiss the Girl' , one of the songs in that movie but not the Sebastian version. I just find it cute, Ashley made a good and cute version of the song. (Ashley, is High School Musical's Sharpay Evans, the blond girl.) And here it is..

Charming Entry

I completely forgot about the TV show Charmed since the start of the fourth season. But recently, when I was googling for something, I was led to this site , and they have a database of scripts of almost all tv series. I saw Charmed, and when I began reading, the Charmed memories resurface on me, and voila I'm hooked once again! I didn't stop reading till the very last episode of the third season! I think I already read those more than twice and I can say that I have memorized each line by heart! :)

And because of that I felt the urge to buy my own set of DVDs of that tv series. As of the moment, my most priced 'wordly' possession is not anymore my laptop, mobile phone nor my wallet but its my Charmed DVD set! Especially the first three seasons where Prue's still alive and literally kicking evil/demon's butts! What I love about Charmed is not the evil/demon fighting nor vanquishing. It's about the life of the young, smart and gorgeous ladies and sisters! And how close their bond as sisters and friends. And how they clash with each other sometimes but eventually fix things and learn to accept their differences.

Haaaay, Charmed makes me wish to have sisters like them. They are so... so! Life with them will never be boring.... There are also times or maybe often times I wish I'm one of them or just have one of their powers. I remember in high school my friends and I would play a 'Charmed' game, my friend Nina wants to play Piper, she will move her hands like Piper does when she wants to freeze time, and all of us would go 'frozen'! And I get to play Prue then, I move my hands and my friends like move to other direction! We also play Phoebe sometimes, when we touch or hold on something we pause, just like what Phoebe does when she gets flash or premonition. I can say that my crowd in high school were really Charmed fanatic. We always watch it, and never failed to watch any of the episodes. I remember back then that I talked to my mom just to extend my bedtime from 9 o'clock to 10 every Monday just to give way to my Charmed watching. ;)) And I didn't get to have a hard time asking her about that 'coz she too is hooked up with the sisters! Heheheh See how lucky a person can get?!

So much blogging about Charmed, I need to watch them again... ;)) I copied the DVD files to my PC here at work.. ;))
